Sylvania, Collisville girls eye sub-region matchups

The Sylvania Great in extent School basketball program has already pulled one freaked out this week, when the Rams edged sixth-ranked Pisgah 83-78 in the Type 3A, Area 13 boys event championship game Monday tenebriousness.

Sylvania's girls will look to level with an even bigger surprise Thursday when they journeys to No. 6 Madison Academy for a 3A sub-regional. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., and the title-holder advances to next week's Northeast Regional Contest at Jacksonville State.

Redway Mustangs face tough opponent in Toddy Thomas

The Redway Mustangs 7th class boys traveled to Toddy Thomas to features a very tough team.

Toddy Thomas started off with the lead privilege away as the first quarter got underway and kept up their push full force. They had some incredibly talented kids and their mastery level left us a bit awe-struck.

We knew we were in skirmish as soon as Toddy made the first shot. With only one sub on the bench, and not a lot of pinnacle, we knew we were at a disadvantage.

The Mustangs attempted to run a few offenses and old-fashioned the ball around quickly to fire off a shot but Toddy’s defense answered back aggressively and effectively. While Ethan Bates scored 9 points and Alex 2 points, Toddy was in the outstrip 18-10. Ethan and Alex were both 2 for 2 from the above throw line.

The second mercifulness proved to be a tough challenge for the Mustangs with our competitor outscoring us by 13 points.

Blue Valley Northwest gets back at Blue Valley North

Rivals Risqu Valley North and BV Northwest were thriving to be hard pressed Tuesday to discharge a more scintillating battle than the season&#x2019;s first junction, which the Mustangs won on a bucket at the buzzer 18 days earlier.</p><p>Somehow, though, the visiting Huskies and emcee BV North found a way to top themselves in a clash of the top two teams in The Headliner&#x2019;s big-class boys&#x2019; basketball count.</p><p>With sole possession of first place in the East Kansas Confederation on the line (as well as the inside track to the top ovule at the upcoming sub-state), second-ranked BV Northwest gutted out a 69-67 overtime win and atoned for its only erosion of the season.</p><p>&#x201C;It might be the last time I ever play them, so it feels god to get this win,&#x201D; said Huskies chief center Jonny Giess, who netted pastime-highs for points (21) and rebounds (eight). &#x201C;We wanted that some spitefulness and it was all-or-nothing for the EKL. If we win, we&#x2019;ve probably got it. If they win, they&#x2019;ve all things considered got it. He picked a Huskies sentinel and midcourt and coasted in for a one-handed jam that invigorated the BV Northwest pile and players.</p><p>&#x201C;I thought I was going to damsel, because it slipped in my hands when I was going up,&#x201D; Fugate said. &#x201C;Fortunately, I got it down or I would have been benched the end up of the game.
