TEMPE, AZ, Apr 02, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Rockford Corporation (pinksheets:ROFO) today announced monetary results for the three and twelve months ended December 31, 2011.

Net proceeds for the three months ended December 31, 2011 was $1.1 million, compared to $0.2 million for the same age in 2010. Net income for the year ended December 31, 2011 was $5.3 million, compared to $2.7 million for the same spell in 2010.

Net sales for the three months ended December 31, 2011, increased 11.9% to $13.0 million compared to net sales of $11.7 million for the same years in 2010. Net sales for the year ended December 31, 2011, increased 12.2% to $60.8 million compared to net sales of $54.2 million for the same while in 2010. The increase in net sales for the three and twelve month age was primarily due to increases in Rockford's core aftermarket and universal sales channels. OEM royalty gate for the year ended December 31, 2011, was $2.7 million compared to $2.9 million for the same era in 2010.

Symphony review: Brassy backup for swingin' show

The Rockford Symphony Orchestra’s “Just Swingin’ ” concert Saturday featured notable singer Steve Lippia at the Coronado Performing Arts Center.

Lippia has made a triumphant career of interpreting “beau id” songs and traditional pop music. According to Rockford Symphony Orchestra Music Helmsman Steven Larsen’s program notes, one of symphony’s most standard Pops Concerts was Lippia’s sold-out “Altogether Sinatra” performance in October 2006.  

The program’s documentation of ownership on Saturday — “Simply Swingin’ ” — was apt as Larsen transformed the symphony into a top-achieve show orchestra, then a big band, and sometimes an intimate associate’s piano and bass duo, all providing a inconceivable backup for Lippia. Never has the brass part sounded more all-out brassy, featured as they were on a tiered party line.

Frank Sinatra was very much in evidence, along with Sammy Davis Jr., Paul Anka, Bobby Darin and more icons of the ’40s, ’50s, and ’60s. Lippia’s stormy voice and easy singing configuration echoed Sinatra’s ’60s era as he hung onto consonants, acclimatized short, choppy phrasing, and put simply the right catches in his voice. Patricia Johnson

Patricia “Pat” Johnson, age 90, of New Rockford, ND, died Saturday, Parade 17, 2012, at Lutheran Home of the Righteous Shepherd, New Rockford, ND.

Patricia Mae Bass, was born May 10, 1921, the daughter of Richard and Anna (Givens) Bass in New Rockford, ND. She grew up and graduated from New Rockford High Teaching. On March 12, 1940, she was united in union to James “Legion Jim” F. Johnson.

She worked at Johnson Collect and Coast to Coast in New Rockford for a number of years. She was an avid bowler and a stupendous sports fan. Pat was a route driver for Minot Continuously News for 16 years and was enmeshed with with her husband in annual Christmas tree sales.

She was a fellow of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion Additional.

Pat is survived by one son, Jim (Joyce) Johnson, Immense Forks, ND; three daughters, Janice Aus, St. Paul, MN, Patricia (Dave) Hilbert, New Rockford, ND, and Peggy (Orlan) Richter, Bismarck, ND; one daughter-in-law, Varene Bettesworth, Galesville, WI; 14 grandchildren and 20 considerable-grandchildren.
